The Chinese pianist Jiang Yi Lin (蒋亦麟) was born 1988 in Munich, Germany and received his first piano lessons at the age of six with Barbara Strauß at the music school of Kaufbeuren, Germany. One year later, he already won his first competition. At the age of ten, he made his orchestra debut with Haydn's Piano Concerto D major.
At sixteen, he started his music studies at the "Mozarteum University of Salzburg", Austria with world-renowned pedagogue Prof. Karl-Heinz Kämmerling. As a young student, he was attending the "Leopold-Mozart-Institute" for three years, a special encouragement programme of the Mozarteum for highly talented young musicians. After his final school exams (Abitur) in 2008, he started his bachelor's degree in piano at the Mozarteum. In spring 2010, he transferred to the "University of Music and Drama Hannover" and continues his piano studies with Prof. Karl-Heinz Kämmerling.
He won several national piano competitions in Germany, e.g. the "Karl Lang Competition", the "Carl Schroeder Competition" and "Jugend musiziert", where he got the first prize with the highest possible score in the final round. Internationally, e.g. he received a second prize at the "International Piano Competition Rotary-Jugendmusikpreis" in Lindau, Germany; the special prize for a special music performance at the "Concorso Musicale dell'Adriatico" in Ancona, Italy; the first prize at the "International Grotrian Steinweg Piano Competition" in Braunschweig, Germany. With his father, the Chinese clarinetist Jiang Bin Wei (蒋彬伟), he won the "European Music Competition Musiquenfamille" for chamber music in Sarre-Union, France.
Additionally, he received scholarships of "Oberstdorfer Musiksommer" and "Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben". For the broadcasting stations "Bayerischer Rundfunk" and "Oesterreichischer Rundfunk", he did several recordings. He plays concerts and recitals in Europe and China, e.g. he already performed at the "Europaeisches Jugend-Musik-Festival" in Passau, Germany; at the "Zhejiang Art Academy" in Hangzhou, China; at the "Internationales Klavierfestival junger Meister" in Lindau, Germany; at the "Salzburger Schlosskonzerte" in Salzburg, Austria, and at the "Konzerthaus" in Berlin, Germany.
In summer 2004, he was chosen as the soloist for a concert series of the "Muenchner Jugendorchester" with Mozart's Piano Concerto No.24 C minor KV491. In April 2009, he played Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue with the "Jugendsinfonieorchester Dornbirn" at the Tanner-Denkfabrik in Lindau, Germany. In the same week, he performed Grieg's Piano Concerto A minor op.16 three times in a concert series of the "Schwaebisches Jugendsinfonieorchester", i.a. at the concert hall "Kongresshalle" in Augsburg, Germany.
In 2001, he received the "Youth Culture Prize" of Kaufbeuren for his successful music activities.
