The piano duet MaYDuo was founded in 2005 in Cologne. The two pianists Mark Kantorovic (born 1992) and Yuhao Guo (born 1992) are young students of the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Cologne, where they study with Professor Anthony Spiri, Prof. Nina Tichman and Prof. Dr. h.c. Arbo Valdma. The MaYDuo is multiple prize winner in the competition "Jugend musiziert", among others it was awarded 2009 a first prize with maximum score at the Federal competition in Essen. Furthermore, the two pianists were awarded the Klassikpreis der Stadt Münster und des WDR in the same year. Also in the same year the piano duo received a Fellowship of North Rhine-Westphalia Music Academy for an international chamber music masterclass and another chamber music course in may, where it was mentored by Prof. Ilja Scheps and Professor Andreas Frölich. MaYDuo occurs in many large concert houses for example in Cologne Philharmonic, Essen Philharmonic and Düsseldorfer Tonhalle. The piano duet performed with the Brandenburg Staatsorchester, conducted by Howard Griffiths in 2009. In 2010, the ensemble gave a concert in Essen Philharmonic to open the concert season 2010/2011.
